Yeah, Hotel Provincial has a lovely courtyard and fabulous guest rooms. Yeah, we’re located on Chartres Street, just steps from everything. Yeah, we’re home to the great Ice House Bar and Honfleur, an amazing event space. But the thing that really makes Hotel Provincial one of the most beloved hotels in the city is our employees — their warmth, their work ethic and their love of sharing what they know about New Orleans with our guests.
This week, the Greater New Orleans Hotel & Lodging Association honored one Hotel Provincial employee, our own David Troxclair, with posts on both Instagram and Facebook. They wrote,
Meet David Troxclair, of @hotelprovincial. David, who wears the hats of both a bellman & valet attendant, has dedicated 31 years of his life to serving the needs of guests and teammates at Hotel Provincial.
Within those 31 years, David has *not once* called off, nor been late for a single shift. Hotel Provincial leadership boasts that David manages routine activities both efficiently & effectively and can always be counted on to boost morale with his positive attitude & willingness to lend a helping hand. Popular amongst his fellow team members and guests alike, David’s exemplary service makes him one of the top-requested members within the Provincial family.
It’s safe to say that David sets the standard for all other employees to follow, as he has been the recipient of Hotel Provincial’s Employee of the Year Award several times in addition to being the recipient of the Eunice C. Dupepe Award (Hotel Provincial’s own Lifetime Achievement Award).
Not only is David an instrumental figure in New Orleans’ hospitality industry, he’s also a devoted husband, father, and Saints fan.
To give you a better idea of the type of key player David is, we’ll leave you with this story: "In 1999, David and his wife were visiting a tiny bakery in Little Rock, Arkansas. An older gentleman walks in, looks at David and says 'I know you!’ David replies, ‘Hey, Mr. Johnson! How have you been?’ The man’s daughter was married at the Hotel Provincial two years prior. He still remembered David, and of course, David remembered him as well."
All of us at Hotel Provincial are so proud of David. Make sure you give him a big “attaboy! “ next time you see him which, we hope, will be real soon!
